Care Assistants
Healthcare assistants are an essential part of the Carrik Care team, providing hands-on support and compassionate care to patients in hospitals and nursing homes across Northern Ireland. Criteria for Registering with Carrik Care
A minimum of 6 months of recent experience in a healthcare or caregiving role.
Hold a relevant qualification or training in health and social care (preferred but not mandatory).
Provide evidence of the right to work in the UK.
Be able to supply up-to-date references and pass a background check.
Have strong communication skills, compassion, and a proactive attitude.
Key Responsibilities
Assisting patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and mobility.
Providing companionship and emotional support to patients.
Monitoring and recording patients' vital signs and well-being.
Supporting nurses and other healthcare professionals in delivering care.
Ensuring patients' environments are clean, safe, and comfortable.

Training Requirements for Care Homes and Hospitals (& RQIA Legislative Requirements):
Manual Handling People
Infection prevention and control
Adult safeguarding incorporating children protection.
Health and Safety including COSHH and RIDDOR
Fire awareness
Basic life support and use of AED including Anaphylaxis.
Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty
Dysphagia: IDDS framework
Equality and Diversity
Information Governance.
Vaccination Requirements
BCG (Tuberculosis)
Measles
Rubella
Hepatitis B
Varicella (Chicken Pox)
If New To The Trust, Must Also Have Negative Readings For:
Hepatitis C
HIV 1 & 2
(Results must be from a UK based laboratory)
